Why Is PRP Becoming So Popular?

Why Is PRP Becoming So Popular?

You’ve heard about it on the news, read about it on social media, or heard your friends talking about it. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is all the rage — and for good reason.

But don’t take just anyone’s word for it.

In this blog, Dr. Divina Averilla at Love Your Body Medical Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada, gives you her expert opinion on why PRP is taking the nation by storm.

The basics of PRP

When you break down PRP, you get two main components: plasma (the liquid portion of your blood) and platelets (a blood cell that aids the healing process). Simply put, PRP is blood that contains a much higher concentration of platelets than normal.

Platelets are famous for their clotting abilities, but they have another superpower. They contain potent growth factors that stimulate cell reproduction, tissue regeneration, and healing.

To create PRP, we take a sample of your blood and place it in a machine called a centrifuge. This machine spins your sample, separating the platelets and plasma from the other components we don’t need. Then, we take the solution and prepare it for injection.

Why is PRP so popular?

We understand if you think PRP sounds like something out of a science fiction novel, but rest assured that there are more than a few reasons to love it. Here are our top three.

1. PRP can do it all

What can PRP do? A better question may be what PRP can’t do. PRP injections are used and adored by sports medicine specialists and aestheticians like Dr. Averilla alike.

Got a bum knee? Is your skin starting to sag? Those concerns may seem like they have nothing in common, but PRP is a treatment option for both musculoskeletal and cosmetic problems.

Here at Love Your Body Medical Spa, we harness the power of PRP to combat hair loss

Upwards of 85% of men struggle with hair loss by the time they reach 50. But it’s not just a problem for the fellas — 40% of all people who suffer hair loss are women. PRP injections effectively kick your body into regeneration mode, helping you regrow your hair and regain your confidence.

2. It’s minimally invasive

In some cases, hair loss is so severe that a surgical transplant is the best course of action. However, that’s not the case for most. PRP is a simple, powerful injection that offers a minimally invasive approach to mild to moderate hair loss.

PRP also allows you to address hair loss without downtime or risk of side effects, unlike more aggressive hair loss treatments.

3. PRP is a natural option

Sure, there are plenty of creams you can rub on your head and medications you can take to regrow your hair. But if we’re being honest, those methods don’t always work, and they can introduce some harmful substances into your body.

If you want to combat hair loss without sacrificing your other health and wellness goals, PRP is a great option for you. PRP is fueled by your own blood and works with your body, which makes it one of the most natural therapies available.

Hair loss is frustrating and embarrassing, but a solution could be closer than you realize. Call our friendly staff at 702-342-0028 or use our online booking tool to schedule an appointment with us today.
