Want Flawless Skin? Try Microdermabrasion

Let’s face it: Smooth, flawless skin has been a beauty standard for as long as we can remember. Unfortunately, next to none of us are born with cover-page-worthy skin.

The good news is that you don’t have to be blessed with genetically perfect skin to look and feel like your most confident self.

Those who are looking to revitalize their skin have flocked to Dr. Divina Averilla and our team at Love Your Body Medical Spa in Las Vegas, Nevada, for our lineup of cosmetic services, especially microdermabrasion

Here’s everything you should know about this minimally invasive procedure and how it can radically transform your aesthetic.

How microdermabrasion works

If you want flawless skin with minimal effort, downtime, and risk, microdermabrasion is one of your best options.

We apply a layer of chemical peel solution and microcrystals to the surface of your skin and follow it with a dermabrasion device to gently exfoliate your skin and slough off the old, dull layers.

Below the surface, microdermabrasion kick-starts collagen production, which ensures healthy skin from the inside out for the long haul.

The ideal candidate

We love microdermabrasion because it’s such a versatile treatment. We can recommend microdermabrasion for a wide range of skin concerns, including mild to moderate:

Some of our patients see us for microdermabrasion before they get a chemical peel because it opens their pores and allows chemical peel products and vitamins to penetrate more deeply.

We might ask you to hold off on microdermabrasion treatments if you have an active breakout or skin infection. Once those have cleared, we can reevaluate and set you up for treatment.

Preparing for microdermabrasion

The best part about microdermabrasion is that it doesn’t come with a laundry list of to-dos before your appointment. We might ask you to keep out of the sun and tanning beds and avoid waxing, exfoliating, and masks for about a week before treatment, but otherwise, you’re free to keep up your regular routine.

Before you arrive, it helps to remove all makeup and clean your face so we can get started as quickly as possible.

Because microdermabrasion is minimally invasive, we don’t need to numb the area or administer anesthesia. Your appointment should take around an hour, and once it’s over, we apply moisturizer and sunscreen to protect your skin.

Life after microdermabrasion

You should continue to apply moisture and sunscreen daily to help your skin heal and protect it from sun exposure and other aggressors. However, we recommend that you stop using topical acne creams for a while until your skin has fully healed.

Results typically develop immediately after treatment and improve over the following days and weeks. Depending on the severity of your skin concerns, you may benefit from multiple treatments.

We walk you through a realistic beauty plan and discuss the possibility of combining microdermabrasion with our other treatments, such as Botox®, dermal fillers, facials, skin tightening treatments, and more
